Get to know David...
David is a Military Veteran of 8 years, serving 7 years on active duty and 1 year on reserve status. David was inspired by his parents, who are also Military Veterans. David began his career in 1989 and enlisted in the United States Army. Due to exceptional test levels, David was recruited into the Intelligence Corps. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard, Mo. Following Basic Training he attended The United States Army Intelligence Center and School’s Training in Counterintelligence at Fort Huachuca, AZ. Upon completion of this training, David was assigned to the Republic of Panama shortly after the United States invasion of Panama. David spent one year as an assistant and was highly recommended to become a Special Agent. This recommendation led to David’s return to Fort Huachuca, AZ and earned his Gold Federal Badge and became a Special Agent in Counterintelligence. David promptly returned to the Republic of Panama and began conducting investigations. Due to David’s bilingual skill’s he was assigned to a unit that specialized in conducting operations to protect the forces in theater through terrorism, espionage and background investigation, all of which were reported to the national level. While in Panama, David attended classes at The Florida State University, Panama Canal Campus. David also has over fifteen hundred class room hours of foreign language studies in Spanish and easily tested for and received college credits in Spanish.
Following his Tour in Panama, David was assigned to Fort Bragg, NC which is home of the United States Army AIRBORNE. David attended “jump” school and logged many jumps while assigned at Fort Bragg, NC. During David’s time at Fort Bragg he participated in numerous Joint Special Operations Missions. David Deployed to Haiti where he conducted force protection operations. David also deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where he conducted intelligence operations in Haitian and Cuban Migrant camps. During David’s military intelligence career, he served many times as a liaison officer with numerous United States and foreign law enforcement and intelligence agencies including the FBI, U.S. Customs, DEA and CIA.
David’s civilian Law enforcement career began at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in 1998. David is a proud graduate of the Harris County Sheriff’s Academy. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is the largest Sheriff’s Office in the State of Texas and the third largest in the United States. David’s past assignments include the Detention and Patrol Bureaus. David has been assigned as a criminal investigator to the Detective Bureau for the past six years. David spent almost five years in the Covert Operations Division where he worked as an undercover Criminal Intelligence, Vice and Narcotics Investigator. While assigned to Criminal Intelligence, David co-conducted an extremely large threat vulnerability assessment of the Houston Ship Channel. David also co-authored the over nine hundred page report to the Sheriff of Harris County and then to the national level. This assessment has been called one of the most comprehensive studies ever conducted of the Houston Ship Channel. This assessment was used in part in grant writing to establish a full time Marine Division which now patrols the Houston Ship Channel. As an under cover investigator David conducted numerous organized crime investigations including criminal street gangs and the infiltration of several prostitution rings and a large Colombian Brothel. While assigned as a narcotics officer, his unit was responsible for the seizure of millions of dollars and thousands of pounds of illicit narcotics.
Following the 2008 election David was transferred to from narcotics to the Burglary and Theft Unit for a brief period and then transferred to another specialized unit known as the Harris County Sheriff’s Office – Safe Home Task Force. This unit is responsible for the investigation of 100% of the residential burglaries in the unincorporated portions of Harris County. Additionally the Safe Home Task Force investigates the most horrific home Invasion robberies.
David and his wife Carrie have two children, Hannah and Justin. Carrie is a Licensed Realtor and former new home sales counselor.
